The final Conference of the Programme RO14 „Research within Priority Sectors” has been held on 14 December 2017, in Cluj- Napoca city (central Transilvania), Romania. The event successfully marked the end of a five years long EEA grants funding program in four specific research areas (renewable energy, environment and climate changes, health and food security, socio-economic sciences and humanities).
The project promoters and their project partners, along with the representatives of the Donor States (Research Council of Norway and Icelandic Centre for Research), National Focal Point (Ministry of European Funds), Programme Committee members, Programme Operators from other EU member states, other Programme Operators from Romania and representatives of audit authorities from Romania have testify the challenges, obstacles that they have faced through as well as the outstanding scientific results.
The event has taken stock of the final results of the programme, has highlighted its best achievements and has emphasized the progress made towards increased research cooperation between Romania, Norway and Iceland.
A selection of joint research projects revealed to the audience the extent to which EEA grants have raised research capacity and have given wider access to European networks of excellence with a special focus on sustainability of projects’ funding.
The event also announced the future programme through the next EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms for 2014-2020 as further opportunity to continue and expand the collaboration in research and innovation between Romania and donor states.
