The Call for proposals was open from 15 November 2013 until 24 January 2014. The scientific domains of the competition are "Renewable Energy" (up to 3,000,000 euros), "Health and Food Safety", " Environmental Protection and Management" and "Social Sciences and Humanities " (minimum 4,337 million euro). From the total call budget at least 2,353 million euro will be used for joint research projects that will contribute to the improvement of the situation of the Roma population.
The eligible applicants should be based in Romania, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. The entities established in third countries may participate in projects, but are not eligible for funding from the program.
The types of eligible applicants are the following:
- Research organizations, as defined in the Community Framework for the State Aid for Research, Development and Innovation ( 2006 / C 323.01 ), may apply for funding as Project Promoters (only from Romania ) and as Project Partners;
-The SMEs as defined in the Community Framework for the State Aid for Research, Development and Innovation ( 2006 / C 323.01 ), may participate only as Project Partners.
A project consortium includes at least one research organization based in Romania as Project Promoter and at least one partner who can be either a research organization or an SME based in Norway, Iceland or Liechtenstein.
The eligible activities are basic research, applied research and experimental development as well as dissemination activities, participation in events, organization of and participation to training sessions and working visits, connecting to international research networks and others similar activities.
